The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Nigeria, Africa's most populous country, has climbed to 46, after recording two new cases in the southwestern states of Lagos and Osun, authorities said on Wednesday.

Both cases were travelers who recently returned to the country, according to the Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC).

Among the 46 cases, two have been discharged and one death was recorded earlier this week, the NCDC said.

The country's commercial hub and most populous city, Lagos, has so far recorded 30 confirmed cases, while Abuja, the political capital, has recorded eight. (Xinhua)
