The Leader of Majority in the Senate Kipchumba Murkomen on Monday said Parliament is becoming the extension of the Executive.

While responding to claims that Parliament has done nothing to help Kenyans as COVID-19 continues to disrupt the economy, Murkomen on Twitter said: "I can confirm that Parliament is dead. It’s an extension of Executive and the opposition is causing stampede trying to be more government than government itself."

So far, no members of the National Assembly and Senate have taken voluntary salary cuts after the Speakers of both Houses gave out 30 per cent of their salaries to National Emergency Response Committee on Coronavirus.

In mid March, President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto surrendered 80 per cent of their salaries to the committee.

Cabinet Secretaries and Governors have also taken 30 per cent salary cuts.
