Security lapse as armed robbers steal Sh6million at Karimenu dam

Monday, June 7th, 2021 07:41 | By

Security has been beefed up at the multi-billion shiling Karimenu II dam project in Gatundu North, Kiambu county after armed robbers gained entry to the site through a water drainage
tunnel and made away with Sh6 million over the weekend.

A senior staff coordinating the project who declined to be mentioned since he is not allowed to speak to media yesterday told People Daily that more police officers have been deployed in the area to beef up security after the ‘scaring robbery’.

“We have police officers who were deployed to specifically man the entire project but more have been added after the incident that left most of us in awe,” said the official.

As more officers keep vigil on the mega project, other sleuths continue to investigate how three robbers managed to make their way in the Chinese nationals’ residential homes.
