With about a year to the end of his tenure, a survey by Trends and Insights For Africa (TIFA) has identified major things that have painted a bright picture of President Uhuru Kenyatta’s legacy.

According to a survey done between June 24 and June 28 and released by TIFA CEO Maggie Ireri, President Uhuru is rated highly in delivering mega infrastructure projects across the country.

Out of 1550 respondents who participated in the survey, 47 per cent of them consider infrastructure as the most positive accomplishment for which the President will be remembered.

Besides, 10 per cent of the respondents say they will positively remember President Uhuru for enhancing cohesion and national unity through initiative such as his Handshake deal with the ODM leader Raila Odinga.

Four per cent of the respondents endorsed President Uhuru’s legacy for improving electricity connection across the country.

At the same time, 26 per cent are not prepared to give him credit for any accomplishment, while a few others are either uncertain about this, or declined to answer the question, 2 per cent for both.

On the negative side, the survey also listed a host of issues that painted a gloomy picture of President Uhuru’s legacy.

According to the poll, 18 per cent of Kenyans feel that President Uhuru has underscored due to increased public debt.

Another 17 per cent of Kenyans feel Uhuru’s administration has performed poorly due to economic hardship facing many Kenyans while 11 per cent of the respondents said the President has underscored because of increased corruption.

However, TIFA poll indicates that one-third, 29 per cent, are unable or unwilling to identify any negative aspect of Uhuru’s legacy, while others are either unsure about this or unwilling to answering the question, that accounts for 5% per cent and 3 per cent respectively.

The findings of the survey had a margin error of +/- 2 per cent. 51 per cent were females while 49 per cent were males.
