Trouble in UDA? Mandago tells off Sudi as battle for Uasin Gishu senatorial seat heats up
Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago has reiterated that he will vie for the county's Senatorial seat after the end of his term in office come August 2022.
Speaking in his county, Mandago told off Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi who is against his Senatorial bid arguing that he, Mandago, is in a better position to drive legislative bills that favour devolution and the people of Uasin Gishu County.
"Kwasabubu mimi ni pioneer wa devolution. Mimi ndio najua mahali ambapo matatizo ya devolution iko. Ninajua ile sheria inafanya sisi kuenda pole pole. Ninajua pahali ile pesa ya devolution iligwama Nairobi, na nanjua kuwa mambo ni bottom up kwahivyo mimi nawaomba muniunge mkono niwe Senator wenu," Mandago argued.
However, Mandago's latest statement might cause disharmony in Deputy President William Ruto's United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party after Sudi fronted other candidates seeking nomination from UDA for the Uasin Gishu senatorial seat as Mandogo.
In his quest to unseat the incumbent, Senator Margaret Kamare while detering Mandago from clinching the Uasin Gishu senatorial seat, Sudi paraded former Kass FM presenter Robert Kemei and Oliver Kipchumba Karori as the candidates who will battle it out with the governor.
“Mandago should let other people like Kemei and Karoli to vie for the local seats like Senate as he goes out to support the DP in national campaigns," Sudi said.
