President Uhuru Kenyatta, his deputy William Ruto and ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi yesterday led the country in mourning the demise of former Kwale Woman Rep Zainab Kalekye Chidzuga who died yesterday.

The ugly hand of death has robbed our country of a highly influential grassroots mobiliser and leader who was a role model to many women. “Mama Zainab Chidzuga was a passionate advocate of women empowerment whose many achievements as an activist, legislator and mentor will continue shaping the gender agenda in our country for generations,” the President mourned.

Ruto eulogised  Chidzuga as a selfless and visionary leader who “served the people of Kwale with dedication.”

Mudavadi described her as an honest and dedicated legislator who promoted women empowerment.

Governor Salim Mvurya (Kwale), Hassan Joho (Mombasa) and Amason Kingi (Kilifi) also sent their messages of condolence.
