Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) officers on Thursday arrested the managing director of the Kenya Bureau of Standards, Bernard Njiraini.

The anti-corruption agency has been investigating allegations of bribery in the procurement of tenders for pre-export conformity of goods, used motor vehicles, mobile equipment, and spare parts at Kebs.

On several occasions, EACC complained that MD Njiraini failed to provide requested original documents thus frustrating the timely conclusion of investigations.

The EACC said that they arrested Njiraini as a penal consequence for failing to comply with a notice issued to him in accordance with the Anti-Corruption and Economic Crimes Act No.3 of 2003.
