KK Combined, Starlets crowned Kisii Betika na Community winners

KK Combined and Gusii Starlets are the 2019 inaugural men and women winners of Betika na Community Kisii Cup champions, an initiative by Kenya’s leading Sports betting company, Betika.

KK came from a goal down to beat impressive Whiteheart FC 3-1 and lift the men’s title while experienced Gusii Starlets were crowned the women queens after seeing off hard fighting River Plate FC with the same goal margin.

The feat saw KK go home with a cash prize of Sh 200,000 and a trophy for their efforts while Whiteheart FC who feature in the FKF Division Two Central Zone Pool C League, received Sh 75,000.

Gusii Starlets took home Sh 100,000 with runner’s up Riverplate receiving Sh 50,000.

Whiteheart keeper Lameck Mariita was outstanding as he emerged the tournament’s best goal keeper to be awarded with Sh 15,000 for his exploits.

“We are grateful,” said Whiteheart coach Evans Areba. It’s not what we hoped for but we are satisfied, it was a good experience and we can only say thank you God,” said Areba.

Betika Na Community tournament which is aimed at supporting local teams by building talent in the grassroots and giving them the required support in form of uniforms, balls, nets, cash and renovation of the pitches, provided on the top of the list, transport, water, lunch and glucose to all teams from both Nyamira and Kisii counties.

The two day event that attracted huge numbers fans coming to watch the youngsters unleash their talents, featured local community sides from the grassroots composed of 20 men and women’s teams that battled it out for the cup organised and facilitated by Betika through the Betika Na Community Initiative with the finals held at Gusii Stadium on Sunday evening.
