Men, women Volleyball fixtures to kick off on Saturday at Nyayo

Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) league serves off this weekend with eight ladies’ and 13 men’s teams having registered for the 2021 season which has adopted the FIVB format of play albeit with teams playing home matches only for the start.

A revised fixture has moved women’s group B matches, initially scheduled to be played at KCB Sports Club, to Nyayo Indoor Arena which the federation has since secured to host their league matches.

Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB), Kenya Prisons and Kenya Army who are pooled in group B will be at Nyayo while returnees Nairobi Water, Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) and Nairobi Prisons will be hosted by Kenya Pipeline at their Embakasi grounds.

The men’s teams have been grouped into three where Prisons Mombasa host Administration Police, Kenya Forest Service, KDF and KPA at Shimo la Tewa.

Group two will see Rift Valley Prisons host Nairobi Prisons Western Prisons and Vihiga County at Eldoret GK Prisons. 

Group three set to be hosted at Kamiti GK Prisons will see hosts Kenya Prisons welcome Equity Bank, Kenya Army and holders General Service Unit.

Men’s champions GSU begin their title hunt against Kenya Army on Saturday morning before playing one of their toughest fixtures every season against Kenya Prisons on Saturday afternoon. On Sunday, the Gideon Tarus-coached paramilitary side face-off with Equity Bank.

A similar match-up will be in the offing in the women’s league when champions Kenya Prisons take on 2019 second-placed finishers KCB on Sunday morning.

The star-studded KCB will play DCI on Saturday while Kenya Prisons take on Kenya Army in the Saturday fixtures ahead of the highly anticipated Sunday clash.
