Shabana FC won their fifth consecutive game Monday in a 1-0 victory away to Coastal Heroes at Mbaraki Sports Club.

Peter Ongechi scored the priceless goal for the visitors in the 53rd minute after a neat build-up that was started by Bernard Okinyi in their own half. Tore Bobe as they are commonly known, are now on 25 points from nine matches played and with an eight-point cushion over second-placed Kibera Black Stars who have a match in hand. The Gusii-based side is the current team of the season so far, having a goal difference of +12 and yet to lose any match.

Meanwhile, Muranga Seal is up to third on the log following their weekend 3-1 win away to Vihiga United. The visitors’ goals were via Farian Adikiny and a brace by Francis Ochola. The consolation goal for the home team was by Amos Kigadi. In the heated game, Seal tactician Ezekiel Akwana was sent off.

Seal who has played seven games have 15 points in the bag with a goal difference of +6 and so far the only other side apart from the league leaders that have yet to taste defeat in this campaign. On their part, Vihiga is in a disappointing 17th place with only three points and in the last five matches has yet to win a game.

Elsewhere, title pushers Naivas FC and Mara Sugar FC also won by slim margins at home. At Awendo Stadium Saturday hosts Mara Sugar beat visiting Mully Children’s Family 1-0 courtesy of Joseph Okwenda’s 78th-minute effort.

The win pushes the Narok County-based side to fourth place with 14 points off eighth matches and a goal difference of +2 currently.MCF on their part is 12th on the log with eight points of the same number of matches played albeit with a single win thus far in the season.

In other games, Naivas FC beat Migori Youth 1-0 at Camp Toyoyo Saturday courtesy of Brian Ouru’s 46th-minute strike. With the win, the retail giants are now in fifth with 14 points off eighth matches with Migori Youth down in sixth place with 13 points.

Giusii FC and Silibwet Leons closed at 2-2 with Mwatate United and Darajani Gogo ending in a goalless tie.
