Stage set for Sunday’s Nyahururu KCB Rally

A  mixture of endurance and power will be witnessed during the second round of KCB Rally slated this weekend in Nyahururu.

 Laikipia Governor Ndiritu Muriithi will flag off the 30 cars outside the KCB Nyahururu Branch building on Sunday.

After the flag off, crews will tackle SS 1 31.43 Kms Ol Maisor Stage with the first car expected at the Sosian 1 stage at 09.01am before heading for service-in for one hour. 

The race has attracted top rally drivers including Carl Tundo, Ian Duncan, Baldev Chager, Karan Patel, Issa Amwari among others.

Drivers will traverse the vast Laikipia covering 308.36 with 150kms as competitive kilometres.

Spectators shall be treated to the best of rally action three times at the Ol Maisor spectator stage. Panari Hotel in Nyahururu will host the scrutineering on Saturday.

Rally cars will be permitted to enter the Service Park five times. There will be a Power Stage. This is a special stage that usually runs as the final stage of a rally in the World Rally Championship.

It has been introduced in the local series. The top three drivers in this stage get extra points. Championship points are also available to the top three crews through the stage.

Winners get three points followed by two for runners-up and one for the third placed driver.
