Murang'a gubernatorial aspirant Irungu Kang'ata has finally been cleared by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).

This comes after the gubernatorial hopeful had been denied clearance by the electoral body following a letter by a resident who claimed that his running mate Dr Winnie Mwangi had failed to resign within the legal timelines.

Kang'ata and his deputy read malice stating that the move by his competitors was a ploy to block his bid.

"I am happy that we have been cleared and we shall be on the ballot come August," he said.

While addressing journalists, Kang'ata further warned his competitors against using him to sell their agenda.

"To my competitors, no one should make me his agenda, focus on selling your policy to the people and wait for the poll day," he remarked.

His deputy, on the other hand, expressed excitement stating that she was glad she was still in the race despite the mishaps further pledging to remain committed to the course.

"We remain committed to the course and am hopeful we shall carry the day," she said.
