Tatu City has tapped global engineering and construction firm Stecol Corporation to undertake infrastructural development projects for Sh3.5 billion within the city.

The firm has handled multiple projects including Nairobi’s Outering Road will be required to complete the final phase of infrastructure development at Kijani Ridge, the city’s residential neighbourhood.

Head of construction and delivery at Tatu City, Samuel Gathukia, says the corporation will be required to complete the infrastructural projects in 12 months.

Stecol will construct six kilometres of tarmacked roads and footpaths, a 5km underground storm water conduit network and water supply pipeline, 2.7km of sewer lines, hundreds of streetlights, 12km of fibre optic cabling and kilometres of 11kV medium voltage underground power lines.

“We are honoured to play a key role in the achievement of Tatu City’s vision of building a new city free from the congestion of Nairobi, with all the conveniences residents and businesses desire in one location,” said Stecol Corporation East Africa deputy director Tian Yisheng.

Currently there are more than 60 local, regional, and multi-national businesses that have opened or started development at the city.

Among the businesses include Dormans, Cooper K-Brands, Davis & Shirtliff, Friendship Group, KWAL and Chandaria Industries.
