The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has announced dates for its grassroots elections.

This follows the National Governing Council (NDC) meeting held by the party at the Bomas of Kenya on Friday, September 29, 2023.

According to the NDC resolutions, the elections shall be conducted in all polling stations beginning December 9, 2023.

"That the UDA grassroots elections shall be conducted in the manner and form of a digital voting system in compliance and in accordance with the Constitution of the UDA Party and the attendant regulations," the party said in its resolutions.

All UDA elected leaders have been directed to "understand" the government plan and manifesto in order to be able to defend the government.

"All the elected leaders under the party shall strive to understand the government’s plan and manifesto and shall answer, defend, and represent to the electorate the status of the government’s manifesto," the party added.

The party has also announced plans to establish laws to defend County Assemblies as well as create a pension fund for MCAs.

"The UDA party supports the establishment of legal mechanisms to ensure the independence of all county assemblies and the creation of a pension fund for the members of county assemblies," the party added.

According to Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, the NDC is part of efforts to strengthen the party and also support the government agenda.

"This is part of the road of establishing and strengthening the party's structures, ahead of the grassroots elections in December. This will not only enhance internal democracy but also support the implementation of the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda," Gachagua stated.
