The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) National Elections Board (NEB) has nullified election results in two polling centres in Narok, citing electoral malpractice.

The centres affected are Entiyani Polling Center in Olokurto Ward, Narok North, and Mosiro Polling Station in Mosiro Ward, Narok East.

UDA to repeat elections

In a statement, NEB Chairman Anthony Mwaura announced that repeat elections will be conducted in these locations to ensure fairness and integrity.

"The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) National Elections Board hereby announces the nullification of the results of the repeat elections conducted on the 4th of May 2024 in the following polling centres, due to substantiated instances of electoral malpractice: Entiyani Polling Center, Olokurto Ward, Narok North, and Mosiro Polling Station, Mosiro Ward, Narok East," the statement read.

"In pursuit of equity, fairness, and justice, it is imperative to conduct repeat elections in the aforementioned areas," Mwaura stated.

The UDA, in anticipation of upcoming grassroots elections, implemented a dispute resolution framework.

UDA introduced a fee structure for lodging disputes at various levels of the party hierarchy, with the amount set at Ksh5,000 for polling centre officials, Ksh10,000 for ward officials, Ksh20,000 for constituency officials and Ksh50,000 for county officials.

The UDA's grassroots elections are conducted across various levels, including polling centres, wards, constituencies, and counties.

At the county level, the structure includes a congress consisting of 20 constituency committee members and elected county leaders.

This congress is responsible for electing 13 officials, including a chairperson, a deputy chairperson, a secretary, a deputy secretary, and a treasurer, along with other positions such as organizing secretaries and representatives for youth, women, persons with disabilities, micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), farmers, religious groups, and professional groups.

Similarly, at the constituency level, a congress consists of 20 ward committee members and the elected Member of the National Assembly. The Ward Congress includes 20 polling centre committee members representing various groups, ensuring diverse representation within the party's electoral structure.
