Amani National Congress (ANC) leader Musalia Mudavadi once again hit out at the government's plans to replace the National Identity card with the Huduma Namba card.

Speaking at the 41st Vihiga Cultural Festival, Mudavadi claimed that Huduma Namba is likely to be used rig elections in next year's polls.

According to Mudavadi, the government is likely to use the National Integrated Identity Management System (NIIMS) to register the under-aged as voters, contrary to the provisions of the Constitution.

"During the registration of the Huduma, even the under 18 were registered. How can we be so sure they will not be included as voters in the elections?" Mudavadi asked.

He further queried why the government is pushing for the implementation of the Huduma Namba during the general elections. According to him, the move is suspicious and can provoke conflict in the country.

"In the previous elections I complained about the 'vifaranga vya compyuta' and if we are not careful, next year we might also have the 'vifaranga vya Huduma Namba'. That is why we are insisting on free and fair elections," the ANC leader said.
