Martha Karua, Jeremiah Kioni-led Kamwene Unity Forum caucus has urged Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua to join it in order to marshal the unity of the GEMA community.

They say that the sooner the region speaks with one voice, the earlier it will realize that a section of Kenya Kwanza administration leadership is out to economically disable the region.

Speaking in Kiambu during the inaugural launch of the caucus, the leaders who included former Laikipia governor Nderitu Mureithi and a motley collection of politicians who lost during the 2022 polls, claimed that the government is out to kill all businesses owned by Kikuyus in Mt. Kenya and the diaspora.

The caucus which is chaired by Kiambu senatorial loser George Maara said that it is ready to incorporate both elected and non-lected leaders in the region with a view of addressing the political and socioeconomic affairs of the region.

"We can all see that the punitive taxes being introduced and implemented by the government are targeting our region. We are the majority in all business spheres and our people have invested heavily in the real estate sector which is being killed via the construction of the so-called affordable houses programme," Martha Karua said, adding that the KK government has ill intentions for the Gema community.

Kioni claimed that a section of elected leaders from the region are being used by the government to strangle the region's economy.

"People like Kimani Ichung'wa and Moses Kuria are being made busy with attacking former President Uhuru Kenyatta while leaders from other regions are busy sharing the national cake at our expense," he said.

He regretted that tens of both large and small business enterprises are closing down every other day in the region due to high taxation adding that unless the government is forced to address the plight, the region and the country as a whole will fall apart economically.

George Maara urged all leaders from the region to join their political course.

"All leaders including the DP are welcome to join us as we fight for equality and equity of our people. They should be wary lest they be turned into flower girls at our expense," Maara said.
