‘Raila is looking for partners, not followers’- Orengo says
Siaya County Senator James Orengo has said Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga is looking for partners and not followers in his quest to clinch the presidential seat come 2022.
According to Orengo, the ODM leader is looking for partners who can help him steer the country in the right direction once elected President in 2022.
"Raila Odinga is looking for partners not followers because Kenyans have a right to get anything stated in the constitution," Orengo said.
He further said he feels inspired when he travels to the region more so, Nyeri, because of the likes of great men like Harry Thuku and J.M Kariuki who hailed from the area.
"When i come to Central and especially Nyeri, I am inspired. Revolution started here in this county, back when we had the likes of Harry Thuku and J.M Kariuki who hail from here," Orengo said.
Orengo further urged the Mt. Kenya electorate to fight for their rights through the ballot and elect the right leader to steer the country in the right direction.
The Senator was speaking at Ruringu in Nyeri County during a political event attended by ODM leader Raila Odinga and a host of Mt. Kenya region leaders.
On Friday, Orengo criticised Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga over his remarks about Raila campaigning on a platform of historical events, saying the events bind the country together.
Orengo said that history will be told whether the governor likes it or not, given that the struggle for independence started in Nyeri
Orengo further said that Kenya's history is the foundation of what the country has transformed to be today.
"The foundation of Kenya's history is based in Nyeri, and we must tell you about history whether you like it or not,' Orengo said.
Raila on Saturday wrapped up his political tour of the region with a meeting of the Azimio La Umoja at the Ruringu Stadium in Nyeri town.
In his last day in the vote rich region, Raila made a call for peace and forgiveness during a series of meetings with several groups.
He was accompanied by a host of governors, senators, Member of Parliaments government officials, and Members of County Assembly.
