Mathira MP and Deputy President William Ruto's running mate Rigathi Gachagua has hinted that they will set in motion a raft of reforms in the National Police Service should Kenya Kwanza ascend to power in August.

Rigathi, who was addressing Kenya Kwanza's economic forum in Nyandarua county, stated that their formation is aware of the tribulations facing the men in blue and will work on ensuring they get better working conditions.

The vocal legislator further stated that Ruto's government will revoke the new blue police uniform, which he claims a majority of the servicemen are opposed to. He also vowed to spearhead a revision of the salaries and wages of the officers, that he says has stagnated since the end of Kibaki's tenure.

"You have suffered so much in the hands of Matiang'i and Kibicho. Even the new blue uniform that you don't want will be revoked and we return to the old one. The blue one will be left for PCEA church. It is the uniform of women's guild," he said.

The lawmaker further accused Interior CS Fred Matiang'i and PS Karanja Kibicho of intimidating police officers by forcing them to back Azimio's candidate Raila Odinga.

"We want to tell chiefs that we have heard they are being intimidated to help Raila win, failure to which they risk losing their jobs. Don't worry, we only have 57 days remaining and we will give you back your jobs. We want to guarantee all officers that their jobs are safe," he added.
