Taxpayers pay Ruto hefty salary as DP but he works as Presidential Aspirant-Ngunjiri Wambugu claims
Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu has poured cold water on the fuss around Deputy President William Ruto's record-breaking number of political rallies in his quest for presidency.
The DP is said to have made numerous political rallies, compared to his competitors, within the month of October.
The lawmaker however posits that the number of political rallies addressed by the presidential hopeful is an indicator that he is a quasi member of the Jubilee administration.
According to Wambugu, Ruto has directed all his energy to bolster his chances of ascending to power and has abandoned his duties as the second-in-command.
He claims that Ruto draws a huge salary from the government yet he absconds his official duties.
"I see TangaTanga are very proud of the fact that Ruto has done 187+ political rallies in 30 days. And it quite a remarkable achievement. What they don’t realize is that they have just confirmed that we - as Kenyans - pay Ruto a government salary as a Deputy President. However what he does everyday is work as a Presidential Aspirant," he posted.
The Kieleweke MP also accused the Deputy President of using public funds to organize private political rallies.
He further stated that the DP should steer clear from associating himself with the development projects currently being initiated by the Jubilee government.
According to him, it is apparent that Ruto is not actively involved in the running of the government and it is imprudent for him to draw credit from projects he has not helped initiate.
"We can also agree that since it’s impossible to do these many political rallies and still deliver as DP, (political rallies are not part of the JD of a DP), it is now official that all and any of the development programs you see going on in Kenya are independent of William Ruto’s input," he added.
