Nyeri Town Member of Parliament (MP) Ngunjiri Wambugu has claimed that Deputy President William Ruto's allies are not helpful in his presidential bid.

He says the DP has been doing all the donkey work for votes in the region and that the people he calls his allies are simply hanging around him without any value.

The staunch supporter of President Uhuru Kenyatta and the handshake, went ahead to claim that Ruto himself knows the reality.

"The DP is a brilliant political animal. He knows he can’t sell a Kalenjin-Kikuyu ticket in 2022, to the rest of Kenya and doesn’t need them to get votes from Mt Kenya. No one around him has the capacity to bring Ruto a new vote. That’s why he’s the one who invites them to speak when in the region,” Ngunjiri said.

Ngunjiri further said that DP Ruto's objective is to hoodwink the vote-rich region to support his presidential ambitions while his allied politicians aggressively push the ‘no-tribe’ agenda.

"Ruto’s objective in the ‘no-tribe’ mantra that drives the hustler nation is primarily to hoodwink Mt Kenya to accept to support him without looking at who ‘of their own' is in his government," Ngunjiri said.

The legislator also said that the Second-in-Command does not need the help of anyone to speak to Mt Kenya voters ahead of the upcoming polls.

"The DP’s Mt Kenya allies depend on him for the votes they will get; while he doesn’t need them to get votes from Mt Kenya. No one around him has the capacity to bring Ruto a new vote," Ngunjiri said.

Ngunjiri further questioned the possibility of DP Ruto appointing one of his allied politicians from the region, given that the politicians allied to him and the United Democratic Alliance don't add any votes.

"The votes Ruto has in Mt Kenya, he has scooped for himself. Why would he give the powerful DP position to someone who doesn’t add any votes to his 2022 bid? Ngunjiri posed.
