Detectives retrace missing Dutch tycoon Tob Cohen’s last movements
The missing Dutch tycoon Tob Cohen went to a club in Parklands on July 20 around 3pm where he met two women before he disappeared and his phone switched off, detectives say.
Even as his wife Sarah Wairimu is expected again in court today, the mystery further deepened by the revelation that the two women — who have recorded statements with the police — confirmed they met Cohen, but maintained they parted ways at the hotel off Ojijo Road.
Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations are treating the wife as a suspect of murder but have not confirmed that the Dutch was actually murdered.
“Unless the detectives prove that Cohen was actually murdered, the wife cannot be charged with murder. Again, if that is confirmed, they must link the wife to the murder,” lawyer Cliff Ombeta said yesterday.
Wairimu’s lawyer Philip Murgor also said police were not investigating the murder and that if the police had a case then they should bring it to the attention of his client so they could confront it.
The latest development comes amid pressure from the Embassy of Netherlands in Nairobi and business associates to detectives to ascertain his whereabouts.
