Business came to stand still in Embu town after bodaboda riders staged demonstrations over increased cases of insecurity.

The riders accompanied by a hearse carrying the casket of one of the bodaboda riders who succumbed to multiple injuries inflicted on him when he was attacked by thugs said they have lost many riders in recent days.

The deceased is said to have ferried an unknown passenger at night early this week before he was killed and his motorcycle stolen.

Martin Muchira who is the chairman of Kaa Ngumu Bodaboda Association in Embu town blames the police for failing to ensure patrols at night saying the thugs have taken advantage to terrorize innocent people.

"Cases of bodaboda riders being attacked and their motorcycle stolen have become so frequent. If we shall not be assured security then we shall deal with these thugs ourselves," he said.

Further, he blamed Embu Level 5 Hospital management for what he said was negligence when the bodaboda rider was taken to the hospital for medication saying he was not accorded quick attention.

Muchira said it took long for the doctors to admit the patient and because of excessive bleeding he succumbed.

Another rider identified as Kaka urged Embu governor Cecily Mbarire to take stern action against doctors who were on duty during that day.

Kirimari ward Member of County Assembly (MCA) Ibrahim Swaleh said that he will sue the hospital management over negligence saying the county assembly has allocated enough funds to the hospital yet it was failing locals.

"Both the county assembly and the governor have provided what is needed in the hospital for smooth running but we are wondering why people cannot be accorded proper treatment, "Swaleh observed.
