Outgoing Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui was a no-show at the inauguration ceremony of the new Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika at Nakuru Showground.

The governor was expected to hand over instruments of power which include the county flag, coat of arms, the constitution, and the county public seal to the incoming governor.

Speaking after taking over the county leadership, Kihika said she will prioritise the healthcare sector.

"Health is a key factor for the development of the county. I will upgrade all sub-county hospitals to level 5 and equip them with ambulances.

"The community health volunteers will earn Ksh5,000 stipend every month," Kihika said.

Kihika also said she will involve youth in road maintenance to curb unemployment.

"If you want to get rich, prioritize good roads. I will ensure that infrastructure will be on top of my agenda. My government will ensure the Meter Gauged Railway in Naivasha is completed," she stated.

She added: "I will ensure farmers get subsidised farm inputs and ready market for their products. I will put Ksh1 billion for subsidised fertilizer and artificial insemination."

Kinyanjui had disputed the election outcome and vowed to challenge it in court.
