Members of the National Assembly yesterday paid tribute to former Cabinet minister Simeon Nyachae describing him as a celebrated leader.

The MPs who observed a minute of silence in his honour,  said Nyachae will be remembered as a performer and  a strict disciplinarian in the various capacities he held as an administrator.

Legislators who included Leader of Majority Amos Kimunya, Leader of Minority John Mbadi, Muturi Kigano (Kangema), Aden Duale (Garrissa Township), Chris Wamalwa (Kiminini), Shadrack Mose (Kitutu Masaba) and Wafula Wamunyinyi (Kanduyi), said Nyachae’s contribution should be emulated by those currently holding leadership positions.

The tributes came even as preparations for Nyachae’s  funeral are in top gear at his Nyosia home and Nyanturago Stadium, where the ceremony will be held.

According to his elder son Charles Ayacko, Nyachae will be buried on Monday at Nyosia home, Kegati location while a requiem mass in his honor will be held tomorrow at Nairobi Central SDA Church.

The constituency’s communication secretary, Fred Monibi said several roads in the area and those leading to Nyanturago stadium are being constructed to ease movement of mourners and vehicles.

“The roads are being constructed by Kenya Roads Rural Authority  and they are 75 percent complete,” Monibi told the People Daily on phone.

Monibi said construction of Nyosia One SDA Church road to the main gate of the late minister’s home is complete.

The official said Nyanturago Stadium, where Nyachae used to hold the annual cultural festival, is being leveled ahead of the burial and Kenya power officers are installing power to be used during the funeral ceremony.

And in Parliament, Kimunya while making his tributes said he remembers Nyachae for the exemplary performance during his tenure as an administrator in Nyandarua County.

“I knew Nyachae when he served in Nyandarua as an administration, because of his strictness, we used to line up when we were young so that we could meet him.

He was not only a friend but a mentor to many and we are very proud of him,” he said. Kigano said Nyachae would be remembered for the principles he stood for.
