FC Talanta enjoy a three point cushion at the top of the Betika National Super League with a match in hand following their 2-0 win away at Murang’a Seal FC at the weekend.

This win at St Sebastian Park was buoyed by their immediate challengers Kenya Police FC tying 1-1 with Nairobi Stima FC in another frustrating afternoon for Francis Mwangi’s side who are now 44 points off 26 matches after a flurry of draws this campaign.

As for Talanta, the resurgence could not have come at a better time with two wins in two in one week.

Ken Kenyatta’s men are among the favourites for straight qualification to the top tier and are now on 47 points off 25 matches in a season which has had its fair share of difficulties.

In another encounter, Fortune Sacco beat visitors APS Bomet 1-0 in an incident-filled match played at Kianyaga Stadium.

There were chaos and injuries after the match that saw officials and security struggling to contain the situation at Kerugoya.

The win pushes Fortune Sacco to fourth on the log with 41 points  as the team fights to enter the promotion bracket. APS are 10th with 34 points after eight wins in 25 matches.

Elsewhere, Shabana’s stutter continued for the third consecutive time following a surprise 1-0 loss away to Mully Children’s Family in a match held at Ruaraka grounds Saturday. The Kisii-based team are now fifth with 41 points having played 27 matches.

At the same time, newcomers MCF are on 38 points and currently sixth on the log.

On Friday, Modern Coast Rangers FC got their biggest win of the season following a 4-0 thrashing of visiting Silibwet Leons FC at Mbaraki Grounds.

The once relegated-threatened side handled by Ahmed Mchula are now up the log to 12th with 31 points off 27 matches. “We want to show that we are not down or out,” said Coach Mchula.
