Bandari's journey in the 2024 Football Kenya Federation Cup has ended after falling to a 2-1 defeat to Bungoma Stars at Sudi Stadium in Bungoma on Sunday, January 28, 2024.

This is the biggest upset so far in the domestic cup at the preliminary stage, as the League Two side managed the win over the Premier League outfit.

Bungoma Stars are now going to face either Marafiki FC or another Premier League side, Talanta FC, in the round of 32.

Meanwhile, the lower league side took the lead in the 22nd minute after Derrick Tekkwo scored, and his teammates managed to hold onto the lead going into the halftime break.

Bandari fought hard and equalised in the 57th minute when Ugandan star Derrick Nsibambi scored. This came after the Dockers suffered an injury setback after Izzadin Ramadan was injured because of an injury.

Bungoma Stars kept on fighting, and their effort was rewarded when they found the second goal a minute after the hour mark. Meshack Makoha was the scorer of the all-important goal that stunned the Mombasa-based side.

The exit from the cup competition means Bandari have missed a chance to fight for a continental title next season. The winner of the FKF Cup will represent Kenya in the CAF Confederation Cup.

Rangers, Police through

On Saturday, two Premier League sides advanced to the next stage after beating their preliminary-round opponents.

Kenya Police were 2-0 winners over Vegpro FC, while Posta Ranger managed to see off Wisdom Soccer Academy by a 2-0 margin.

Meanwhile, Bandari will now focus on the Premier League, where they are fifth with 31 points accrued from 19 games.
