Ken Kenyatta has dodged the bullet that puts FC Talanta on the spot following a walkover that was issued on June 5.

FC Talanta failed to show up for their Football Kenya Federation Premier League match against Kakamega Homeboyz at Ruaraka Grounds.

Talanta players reportedly skipped the match owing to unpaid salaries and match-winning bonuses.

The game was key to the 2021-2022 Premier League title race between Homeboyz and Tusker as the two sides headed into the weekend joint top on 57 points and separated only by goal difference.

Apparently, team head coach Ken Kenyatta arrived at the stadium and looked shocked at the turn of events.

“It pains me giving away free three points to our opponents. I don’t understand and cannot explain why players are not here to take on Homeboyz because I don’t have the authority to do so,” Kenyatta said.

The frustrations were clear enough as Kenyatta lamented adding on to how he was not able to account for the players' whereabouts.

FC Talanta has with this regard issued a statement stating that further communication will come from the Chairperson of the Board of Directors and the Chief Executive Officer regarding the matter.

Meanwhile, Vihiga Bullets have been relegated to the National Super League as Nzoia survived. Bullets lost 4-1 to Kenya Police at the Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega.
