Edwin Sifuna is the most popular senatorial candidate in Nairobi County, a new survey by TIFA has revealed.

Sifuna, who is seeking the Senator seat on an ODM party ticket, leads in popularity at 27 per cent followed by UDA's Margaret Wanjiru at 9 per cent. Jubilee party's Maina Kamanda was ranked third with 1 per cent.

Despite the big margin, TIFA said on Tuesday, June 21, 2022, that it's too early to make conclusions considering nearly two-thirds of the city residents are undecided about the race.

According to the study, 64 per cent of the voters are yet to make up their minds on who to vote for or if to vote for anyone at all.

The two leading candidates have, however, gained ground in the last month having recorded 19 and 6 per cent support respectively in a poll conducted in May.

The firm conducted 632 interviews across all the 17 constituencies in Nairobi. The survey's margin of error was plus or minus 3.8 per cent.

In the governor race, UDA's Johnson Sakaja is leading in popularity at 40 per cent followed closely by his main challenger Polycarp Igathe of Jubilee at 32 per cent.

TIFA said Sakaja has more female supporters at 41 per cent as compared to Igathe's 24 per cent.

"There were no major differences in the support for two candidates by age group," TIFA said.
