‘We are not equals’- Gachagua angrily tells off Kanini Kega
Kenya Kwanza running mate Rigathi Gachagua has told off Kieni Member of Parliament (MP) Kanini Kega over a sustained argument between them.
Speaking to his supporters at Mweiga Township in Kieni West, Nyeri county on Saturday, July 30, the Mathira MP told Kega to stop engaging him in arguments because he is not of his league since his eyes are on the Deputy President seat; not MP.
While taking a swipe at Kega, he assured Kieni supporters that when he becomes deputy president, he will offer the services he (Kega) was unable to offer them during his tenure as an MP.
Gachagua additionally asked Kega to stop forcing the electorates to vote for Azimio la Umoja One Kenya presidential candidate Raila Odinga, since they (supporters) had firmly agreed to vote for Deputy President William Ruto.
“Reciprocate by giving these people the respect they have given you by electing you for ten years. Stop forcing them to elect an 80-year-old man,” Gachagua added.
Further, Gachagua implored Kieni residents to ditch Kega for Kieni United Democratic Alliance (UDA) candidate Njoroge Wainaina.
At the same time, he also drummed up support for other UDA candidates urging the electorates to vote for them during the August polls.
Kanini Kega attacks Gachagua
Gachagua's curt remarks came a day after Kega attacked the outgoing Mathira MP.
In his attack, Kega through his official Facebook account reiterated that he will be in parliament for his third term while Gachagua heads home for the next five years.
"I assure you that God willing on the 10th, I will be in the 13th parliament but you (Gachagua) will go home," he wrote.
Kega further accused Gachagua of defacing his billboards stating that the people of Kieni had already decided to vote for him since his name was engraved in their hearts and not on billboards.
"Defacaing my billboards won't help you" he added.
