The National Dialogue Committee (NADCO) had received 142 memoranda from stakeholders as of Sunday, September 10, 2023.

This was announced by NADCO co-chair Kalonzo Musyoka even as the team resumed talks on Monday after a week-long recess.

"We continue to be impressed by the level of public participation in the Bipartisan talks. We urge our fellow Kenyans to continue submitting their Memorandas so that every idea, concern or suggestion is included in the framed agendas. The Technical Committee will this week peruse all documents submitted in readiness for the next working sitting," Kalonzo stated.

Among the primary agenda of the committee are two-thirds gender rule, the cost of living, fidelity to political parties and coalitions, entrenching political party funds into the constitution, and establishment of the official leader of the opposition office and the office of prime cabinet secretary.

The committee has been on a week-long recess to allow its members to participate in the Africa Climate Summit which was concluded last week.

"We are back to Bomas of Kenya following a week-long recess allowing members of the National Dialogue Committee to participate in the landmark African Climate Action Summit. We also received Memorandums from various organisations that have been keenly following the progress of the Bipartisan talks," Kalonzo added.

Dialogue on IEBC reconstitution

Last week, NADCO co-chair Kimani Iching'wah said that they have written to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) selection panel concerning its reconstitution.

"The committee has written to the IEBC selection panel and the multi-sectoral working group on the two-thirds gender rule regarding IEBC and the 2/3 rule that forms part of the dialogue agenda," Ichung'wah stated.

The committee has 60 days to conclude its dialogue and issue a report.

The report is set to propose an amicable solution to the conflict between Kenya Kwanza and Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya coalition party, which has led to demonstrations across the country.
