Kick ‘defiant’ Ruto out of government, MP tells Uhuru

Nyeri MP Ngunjiri Wambugu.

Nyeri MP Ngunjiri Wambugu has said President Uhuru Kenyatta should consider kicking out his deputy William Ruto from the government.

The lawmaker claimed the second-in-command has shown “outright defiance and continues to sabotage Uhuru’s unity bid and war on graft”.

He described the DP as “a smart politician without a conscience”, saying there are tell-tale signs that the President and his deputy were no longer reading from the same political script, and worse, “the latter has been undermining and disrespecting his boss”.

Speaking on Sunday night at K24’s Punchline Show with Ann Kiguta, Wambugu, who has been a fierce critic of the DP under the Kieleweke team, said the working relationship between the two leaders had deteriorated and if it was upon him, he would sack the DP.

Face collapses

“Right now, I don’t think we do have a working relationship between the President and the Deputy President.

I don’t think it exists… (about Uhuru retaining the DP), it’s a decision that the President must make.

If it was in my position, I would find a way to tell him (DP) to shape up or ship out but I am not the president,” the MP said.

Wambugu said Ruto’s politicking was a show of defiance against Uhuru, who has constantly called for an end of premature 2022 campaigns.

“Right now, William Ruto is supposed to be supporting Uhuru Kenyatta to fight corruption, implement the Big Four (agenda), and make the Handshake a reality but what is he doing now?

He is undermining the fight against corruption by saying it’s a political witch hunt and undermining the Handshake, which his boss initiated,”  the MP claimed.

Wambugu said Jubilee, which was formed after the collapse of different parties, faces imminent collapse unless the DP changes his ways.
