Ruiru Sports Club to host more than 200 players for series event

The Ruiru Sports Club will tomorrow, play host to the 2024 ac Golf Series, marking the fourth instalment of the Series calendar that commenced in early March this year.

Over 200 golfers will converge on the par-72 course with the first group set to tee-off starting as early as 7 am. They will be vying for coveted slots at the Series Grand Finale to be held later this year at the Muthaiga Golf Club.

Commenting on the tournament, John Gachora, NCBA Group Managing Director expressed his excitement, stating, “We are thrilled to return to Ruiru for the second time since the inception of this series in 2021. Witnessing the remarkable growth of the tournament, with an ever-increasing participation, is a source of pride for all of us at NCBA. Ruiru presents a challenging course, and we eagerly anticipate the test it will provide this weekend. Our goal is to ensure a rewarding experience for our stakeholders in Ruiru, as we have consistently delivered in our past events.”

Ruiru Sports Club captain James Muraguri extended a warm welcome to the golfers and expressed gratitude to NCBA for bringing back the event to Ruiru. “We are thrilled to host the NCBA Golf Series once again at Ruiru Golf Club. The course is in impeccable condition, and we’re looking forward to witnessing some exceptional golfing talent on display. Our club members and the local community are excited to be a part of this prestigious event,” said Muraguri.

The Ruiru leg follows the third leg of the series held on April 6 at the Eldoret Sports Club where home player James Chirchir carded a round of 41 points to claim victory in the Division One category, shrugging off stiff competition from fellow club-mate James Komen whose final tally of 38 points secured him the runner-up position in the category.

In the Ladies category, Miriam Wanjiku, playing off handicap of 12, clinched victory with a final score of 36 points. Coming in second was Gracemary Karira, with an impressive score of 36 points.

In Division 2, Cheptoo Johana claimed victory in the Men’s category after scoring 36 points while Satwinder Sagoo emerged victorious in the Ladies category, after returning an impressive 40 stableford points.

At the same time, Anita Cherop demonstrated exceptional skills in Division 3, emerging triumphant with 33 Stableford points while junior golfer Ryan Tolgos secured victory in the junior category after carding 100 gross.
