Wiper Party leader now says he negotiated for registration of Azimio-One Kenya Alliance before he endorsed ODM leader Raila Odinga for the August 9 presidential election.

Speaking at his Tseikuru home in Kitui County, Kalonzo also denied demanding a running mate position before backing Raila.

"It is not what's in it for Kalonzo, but what's in it for Kenyans," he said.

The Wiper leader also downplayed the alleged six-hour delay on Saturday, saying there was no standoff before Raila was unveiled as Azimio presidential candidate at KICC.

"We insisted on a structured dialogue. On Saturday, Raila, Uhuru and I were to have breakfast together before heading to KICC. When Raila came with Charity Ngilu, I also tagged Gideon Moi along," he said.

Kalonzo also denied the watermelon tag, saying it's Raila who named him so.

"Raila gave me the name, but I have no problem with it. He is my brother," he stated.

The Ukambani kingpin also said he said "Raila tosha" without thinking about what he will get as an individual.

"Some of us are selfless. We only bargain for our people and Kenyans as a whole," he added.
