Racheal Otundo, a Kisii County governor aspirant, who defected from the United Democratic Alliance (UDA), citing frustrations has joined the Progressive Party of Kenya.

Otundo appealed to women aspirants who feel frustrated in bigger parties to join smaller entities or vie as Independent candidates to enable them to realise their political dreams.

She said precedence had shown that voters elect leaders based on their policies and not political parties.

“I appeal to women not to give up. We are the majority and we can use our numbers to propel us to various elective seats,” Otundo yesterday told People Daily in Kisii town.

Separately, UDA coordinators have endorsed Maureen Moraa Obino as the party’s Woman Rep candidate in the August 9 election.

Party County coordinator Hezekiah Bosire said aspirants had mandated the coordinators to pick one of the three aspirants, namely Moraa, Lucy Gitoi and Gladys Aunga.

He said they picked Moraa after her rivals failed to turn up at a meeting held at a Nyamache sub-county hotel in Kisii on Sunday.
