Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has called on presidential aspirants and other politicians seeking various elective seats on its ticket to start preparing their application fees ahead of the opening of the application portal.

In a statement issued to the press, the Raila Odinga-led party said that their application portal will be ready in the cause of this week hence the aspirants should prepare to submit their applications.

The party said that those seeking to fly its flag in the presidential elections will pay Ksh1 million while governor aspirants will pay Ksh500,000, Senate and MP aspirants will pay Ksh 250,000 and MCA aspirants will issue Ksh50,000 as their application fees.

Female, youth and aspirants with disabilities will, however, pay half of the respective amount mentioned earlier.

"The NEB (National Election Board) wishes to inform all aspirants that the application portal for the party will be ready within this week. The aspirants are reminded to read all applicable laws and rules and prepare to submit their applications as guided," ODM said in the press release signed by its NEB chairman Catherine Muyeka Mumma.

The party also said that it will extend the deadline it set for the closure of the registration of its members. The membership registration deadline was set for today, Monday, February 21 but the party has since pushed it to next Monday, February 28.

ODM said that it is extending the registration by another one week due to the overwhelming requests it has received from its supporters seeking to register as party members.

Mumma said that the extended t-day period will also allow existing party members and aspirants to verify their membership status.

"The party wishes to notify all party members, supporters and friends, that the deadline for the closure of the membership registration has been moved from Monday, February 21, 2022, to Monday, February 28. This is following the overwhelming public interest expressed by persons wishing to join the party, the anxiety expressed by several interested persons, about the possibly being locked out from participating in the party primaries nominations," Mumma said.
