Saboti Member of Parliament (MP) Caleb Amisi has lamented that he sometimes disagrees with his party leader Raila Odinga because of the way he gives in so easily.

Amisi said that Raila would easily have allowed the Kenya Kwanza alliance to have the Majority in the National Assembly if he was the President.

The Saboti MP complained that he sometimes disagrees with his party leader because he is too good and easily gives in the name of democratic principles.

"If baba was the president faced with majority leadership issue in bunge (parliament), he would have let it go to Kenya Kwanza in the name of democratic principles. This is where I sometimes disagree with my party leader. He is too good and easily gives in," Amisi tweeted.

Chaos in Parliament

Amisi's tweet came after National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang'ula ruled that Kenya Kwanza Coalition was the Majority party in the House.

Wetang'ula delivered the ruling while addressing the National Assembly on Thursday, October 6, 2022, bringing an end to a dispute between Kenya Kwanza and Azimio la Umoja One Kenya factions which both claimed to be the Majority coalitions.

Addressing the House, Wetang'ula ruled out Azimio being the Majority coalition in the 13th Parliament.

The Speaker noted that the Azimio coalition party comprised 26 political parties but some parties left the coalition to join Kenya Kwanza.

Wetang'ula announced that Kenya Kwanza had 179 MPs against Azimio which he said had 157 MPs.

The announcement on Thursday caused an uproar among members of the Azimio team who felt the decision was unfair.

The Speaker was eventually forced to end the parliamentary proceedings early as order could no longer be maintained after his announcement.

A group of Azimio MPs caused chaos leading to the adjournment of the sitting.

In another tweet before the Speaker made his ruling, Saboti MP said he knew Wetang'ula would rule in favour of Kenya Kwanza after President William Ruto made an impromptu visit to Parliament on Wednesday, October 5, 2022.

"H.E Ruto was in Parliament yesterday, in the military jargon, that was Parliament take over. We already know @HonWetangula ruling today. It was hand-delivered. NEXT STOP will be to the corridors of justice to have lunch with judges," Amisi tweeted.

Ruto made the stopover in Parliament where he had his lunch with lawmakers.

The visit caught the Parliamentary leadership, including the National Assembly Speaker and his Senate counterpart Amason Kingi, flatfooted.

The President crossed over to Parliament from KICC where he officiated the flagging off of Kenyan tea export to Ghana.
