Saboti Member of Parliament (MP) Caleb Amisi is opposing the truce struck by his party leader Raila Odinga and president William Ruto that ended the weekly protests led by the opposition.

In a tweet late on Monday night, Amisi stressed that Ruto is not a man to be trusted, claiming that he lied to millions of desperate hustlers.

Th Saboti MP noted that Ruto lies to anybody at any time, adding that the president has never believed in reforms.

"On Thursday, I will lead Azimio in rejecting all #ruto proposals. You can't trust that man. If he lied to millions of desperate hustlers ,he would lie to anybody anytime .He has never believed in reforms ,to him, the end justifies the means.Big NO! #RailaOdinga #marthakarua," Caleb Amisi tweeted.

Raila gives in too easily

In October 2022, when Azimio and Kenya Kwanza were locked in a fierce battle over who had the majority in the National Assembly, Amisi lamented that Raila gives in way too easily.

Amisi said that Raila would easily have allowed the Kenya Kwanza alliance to have the Majority in the National Assembly if he was the President.

The Saboti MP complained that he sometimes disagrees with his party leader because he is too good and easily gives in the name of democratic principles.

"If baba was the president faced with majority leadership issue in bunge (parliament), he would have let it go to Kenya Kwanza in the name of democratic principles. This is where I sometimes disagree with my party leader. He is too good and easily gives in," Amisi tweeted.

Truce

People Daily reported that Raila, Ruto talk that ended the political impasse was so secretive that hardliners like deputy president Rigathi Gachagua were kept in the dark.

So secretive were the negotiations that only three people on Ruto’s side were aware of the developments; Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki, his Transport counterpart Kipchumba Murkomen and Kericho Senator Aaron Cheruiyot.

On Raila’s side, only his 2022 presidential campaign running mate, Martha Karua, and Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka were looped in.
