Murkomen to Orengo: I didn’t know opposition also eats its own people
When Siaya Senator James Orengo crafted the phrase "government eats its own people", he might have never thought the phrase could one time turn against him.
Hot on the heels of ODM wrangles pitting him and Rarieda MP Otiende Amollo against the rest, over the Constitutional Amendment Bill, 2020, the phrase has come to haunt him.
On Wednesday, Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen, who recently served as the perfect example for the phrase, commented on the ODM drama and took a swipe at Senator Orengo.
While painting a picture of Orengo's situation, Murkomen also gave the Senator a taste of his own medicine.
"I know exactly what SC Hon. James Orengo feels. I have been there. You know you are right but you are still torn between standing by your principles and kissing … to survive. I didn’t know that opposition too eats its own people Man facepalming," he tweeted.
Remarks by Murkomen come at a time when Senator Orengo is facing turbulent times in the ODM Party with accusations of betrayal leveled against him.
Senator Orengo, who is pushing for the amendment of the BBI Bill before it is passed by Parliament, has found himself in a tight corner with close allies of his party leader Raila Odinga criticising him.
Last week, Suna East MP Junet Mohamed accused the Senator of dishonesty saying he cannot disown some clauses of the Bill yet he co-authored the final BBI document.
Junet said Orengo is being dishonest with his stand on the Bill given that he was part and parcel of its creation.
The ongoing drama saw Rarieda MP kicked out from the Justice and Legal Affairs Committee (JLAC).
Reports now indicate that Senator Orengo could be kicked out of Senate Minority Leader role following his hard stand on the bill.
