Uhuru was not elected to unite Nasa, sort your mess alone- DP Ruto
Deputy President William Ruto has told off Nasa leaders against using President Uhuru Kenyatta to sort out their wrangles on the 2022 succession politics.
Speaking in Kiambu on Sunday, the DP said President Uhuru was elected into office to address issues facing all Kenyans and not the four Nasa leaders.
According to the DP, the four Nasa principals, namely ODM leader Raila Odinga, Wiper’s Kalonzo Musyoka, ANC’s Musalia Mudavadi and Ford Kenya’s Moses Wetangula, have held the President hostage to the point that he cannot discharge his duties fully.
“Did we elect the President to go and unite the Nasa coalition?” he posed.
“They are disturbing the President who instead of serving Kenyans is now forced to address issues involving five people. Kenya cannot move forward because these people are greedy, egocentric and rude in their quest for power,” the DP said
Ruto further told the Nasa leaders to iron out their differences among themselves and let the president discharge his mandate to Kenyans.
He faulted the Nasa principals for their woes saying their greed for power is the cause of all these conflicts they are witnessing.
“Everyone is full of greed; this one want power, the other one says he can’t work with this one and the other says I have these number of bullets,” he added.
Ruto’s remarks came in the back of President Uhuru’s visit to the Ukambani region where he hinted at supporting calls to revive the Nasa coalition.
ODM leader Raila was present during the president’s tour where he urged the Head of State to join the Nasa outfit so that they can forge a united front ahead of 2022.
Kalonzo, who appeared relegated during the tour, was also present.
Kalonzo and Mudavadi have, however, downplayed talks of reviving Nasa even as each one of them insists on being on the ballot come 2022.
