Suna East Member of Parliament, Junet Mohammed, claims that Deputy President William Ruto is taking advantage of the poor economic situation in the country to lie to Kenyans that he can fix it up with his bottom-up approach once elected president in 2022.

Speaking in Kisii while accompanying ODM leader Raila Odinga, Junet took the opportunity on the podium to criticise the DP’s approach, saying it was meant to steal from gullible Kenyans.

“I have analysed the bottom approach and I have come to a conclusion that it is meant to steal from poor Kenyans, while they build churches and buy helicopters with your money,” Junet said.

According to Junet, DP Ruto’s customised ‘bottom-up’ economic model is a scheme to win gullible Kenyans as the 2022 presidential race hots up.

Junet differed with Ruto’s model against Raila’s macroeconomic vision, which varied somewhat from the DP’s bottom-up approach, which focuses on the microeconomic aspect.

“The only person who can help the country given his experience in politics is Raila Odinga,” Junet added.

He called on Ruto to explain the bottom-up approach as he asked Kenyans to vote for the former prime minister come 2022 due to his experience in politics.

However, according to DP Ruto, his economic approach will promote millions of people who are unemployed and small scale business people.

Ruto and other leaders allied to him have insisted on using an economic model that empowers, by injecting money to the low-income businesses, as the perfect way to build the economy.

The DP has insisted the current system only benefits a few people who are at the top of the food chain, in the name of having them get resources to those at the grassroots.
