Women’s top league resumes after break
After a two-week break, Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Women’s Premier League resumed at the weekend with a number of shocking results.
Kangemi had an outing to forget as they lost 7-0 to Ulinzi Starlets who had beaten them 6-2 in the first leg encounter.
Another casualty was Kayole whose hopes of overturning a 2-1 defeat by Thika Queens in the first leg ended in disappointment after slumping to a 2-0 loss.
Just like Kangemi, Kisumu All-Starlets had a nightmarish weekend, losing 3-0 to visiting Gaspo in Kisumu for the latter to win 9-0 on aggregate, having won the first leg 6-0.
Meanwhile, former champions and current leaders Vihiga Queens beat Nakuru City Queens 3-1
At Mumboha Stadium, newbies Bunyore Starlets punched above their weight by defeating Wadadia 3-0.
The result came as a shock to many considering that Wadadia had beaten Bunyore by six unanswered goals in the first leg encounter.
Bunyore Team Manager Zachariah Amakhang’a attributed the defeat to discipline and hard work.
“The girls had shown the desire to win from the word and they deservedly got it. We shall take the remaining matches each at a time and see what happens from there,” he said.
In the final match of the weekend, Zetech Sparks drew 1-1 with Transnzoia Falcons at GEMS Cambridge Ngong’ Road, Nairobi.
The first meeting between the two sides this season saw Transnzoia win 2-0.
